4 Ways to Maximize Open House Visits

We are just several weeks until Spring 2015; however in the real estate market, it’s already spring!

More homes are becoming available and that means homebuyers can expect to see a pickup in open houses. An open house is when real estate agents allow prospective buyers to tour a home, usually within days after it’s been listed for sale. Open houses offer more than just the opportunity to get a closer look at a property, so being prepared is a MUST!

Here are 4 Ways to Maximize Open House Visits

1. RESEARCH THE PROPERTY

Unless you’ve stumbled upon an open house while driving, take time research the home you’re going to visit online. During that research you may find a potiential deal breaker. If you have concerns about the schools that serve the area, whether the garage is too small for your needs or if the neighborhood not walkable enough for you; then researching the potiential home would save you time, patience, and money.

2. BRING SUPPLIES

Something for note taking comes in handy especially when visiting multiple open houses; you may want to compare properties later. A camera can allow you to virtually re-visit the  property.

3. TAKE YOUR TIME

Purchasing a home can be a BIG move. Instead of a quick walkthrough; 30 minutes to an hours allows you to pay more attention to detail, recurring noises, etc

4. ENGAGE IN SMALL CHIT-CHAT

Open houses tend to attract neighbors.Engaging in small talk with other open house vistors allow you to determine if they live in the neighborhood, as you could glean more information about what the neighborhood is like.
